History of JSL of Bartow The Junior Service League of Bartow was charted in 1966. The first league president was Mrs. Monte Campbell, who had a vision to establish a group of women who wanted to provide humanitarian services for the Bartow Community. The first fundraising event was the operation of "Bargain Box," an outlet for used clothing. The money raised went toward welfare projects. The club also established coffee carts at Bartow Hospital and read stories to the children in the pediatric ward. In the following years, the club established a clinic for preschoolers and provided eye and ear tests.
